Thankful for Scraps

Last night I came up to my stamping room and thought “time to clean up!” But, there was a little pile of scraps sitting on my desk, and they screamed out to me to make something with them. I didn’t take a photo of the scrap pile before I made this card, but here’s a photo of the pile now:

Does this happen to you? This little area next to my OttLite / Blends gets filled with little bits and they start to pile up. Well, in the pile last night as I was cleaning up I found the stitched shapes (Crumb Cake – negative from a stitched rectangle and the square Evening Evergreen glimmer paper. There was also a scrap of vellum and the two sprigs of leaves (they have been there so long, I have no clue what they’re from: maybe Forever Fern?) So I thought: it’s time to make a card! Here’s the result:

I added an Evening Evergreen card base, a Crumb Cake layer, the tree patterned paper from Celebrate Everything (yes, I’m using this ’til the bitter-end!) and a scrap piece cut with the Stylish Shapes dies out of the holly design from Painted Christmas DSP (note: this DSP is still available and only $4.80 for a whole pack!) I used the Double Oval punch and a sentiment from the Very Best Occasions stamp set — carrying over from the Mini Catalog, and a must-have in your stamp collection. Full supplies for you to shop are below.

Here’s a close-up of the sentiment and those gorgeous stitched shapes:

And, don’t forget to decorate your envelope! I love to use a 2 1/4 x 6″ piece of DSP and simply glue it to the envelope flap and trim!

Make something from your scraps and share it with me!

Happy stamping! Kelly
