NC Demos Hop – Bundle Up! Round We Go

Happy almost July! Sorry to be MIA the past month…life has been so incredibly busy. My older son graduated from high school at the end of May, and then, two days after graduation, my younger son and I hopped on a plane to China for a two-week school trip. Also June 30 is fiscal year end for my professional gig…so you know, there is that too. Phew! But, I’ve managed to find some stamping time here and there — mostly for personal projects, my stamp club, and for Instagram. Alas, the Blog is the last on the list. But, here we are!

Today I’m hopping with my NC Demos group. This is a monthly hop that occurs the last Sunday of the month. You have until 11:59 Mountain Time tonight to take advantage of the amazing deal Stampin’ Up! has had all month — 10% extra savings on most Bundles, and 10% off the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machines. I took advantage of both! My old Sizzix (going on 15 years old) finally bit the dust, so this sale was a perfect time for me to replace it. $117 for the big machine on sale – you can’t beat it! I also purchased a few of the new Bundles…including this versatile gem called Round We Go. Currently with the sale this stamp set and die bundle is only $40. You cannot beat it. When I saw this bundle, I immediately thought of July 4th. Given the date today, I decided to make a July 4th themed card. Let’s take a look:

My Project:

And, here’s the inside:

I kept the inside blank so it could be for any occasion. I used blues (Misty Moonlight and Night of Navy) along with Real Red and Basic White. The DSP is Country Lace.

CASE’D DESIGN

To design the card, I actually CASE’d a card sketch from the Annual Catalog. Check out page 22 of the catalog. Here’s the sketch I modeled my design from:

Let’s take a closer look at all of the elements on the card front:

Let’s build from the base up:

  • I used the two dies that make a circle of holes in the DSP background layer.
  • I then used the burst (flower?) stamps and ink and cut out with the coordinating die (underneath the rosette there is one in red, one in blue).
  • I also used the dies to cut out bursts (flowers?) of cardstock.
  • I added a sentiment from the stamp set with half a banner from the Stylish Shapes dies.
  • And, finally, the rosette. Check out my video to see how I made the rosette — they are easier than they look!

Hope the video helps. Practice makes perfect! Here’s my card one more time for final inspiration:
