You’re Spec-taco-lar!

Valentine #2 for my firstborn. Among many talents and hobbies, he loves the gym, and LOVES to eat…and sushi and Mexican food are his top faves. Stampin’ Up!’s Taco Fiesta stamp set is perfect for this Valentine of mine.

This sweet little line-up of Mexican food is so cute! I love these little images, especially with the faces. Taco Fiesta is a 23 stamp stamp-set that features line images perfect for using your Blends. Let’s take a closer look:

The “You’re” comes from the free Sale-A-Bration set called Softly Sophisticated.

Only two more days ’til Valentine’s Day! Kelly

CTCS: Rock & Roll Valentine

Happy Sunday! I’ve been spending some of the Superbowl time stamping, of course! I thought it would be a great time to do a Case the Catty Sunday, since I haven’t in many weeks, AND, time to start making Valentines for my 3 special guys as I like to make my husband and both sons special Valentine cards each year.

This week’s CASEing the Catty Sunday Challenge (CTC456) is to case a project in the Sale-A-Bration catalog. I’ve chosen this project:

I actually love every project on this page, but this one with the three different strips of DSP immediately drew my eye and I thought it would be perfect for me to showcase the Rock & Roll suite.

I’m starting my special Valentine making with my youngest son. He has been learning to play the bass since last summer so of course when the Jan-April mini catalog went live, the Rock & Roll Suite was one of the first on my list to purchase. I simply love it, and made this special Valentine just for him.

I love the DSP in this suite, so wanted to feature it using this card sketch.

I love this DSP — and it screams for me to add a “pop of color” to it. Given the occasion…red it is! The red hearts have been sitting on my desk from the Adoring Hearts bundle. The star of this card is the guitar!

The sentiment is from the Bee My Valentine stamp set. The “buzz” reminded me of the buzz from the amp he uses when playing his bass, and it fit perfectly on the double banner die in the Rock Star Dies.

Let’s take a look at the inside. I decided to include a panel of the guitar pattern on the left…because I just needed more DSP on this card…and it’s guitars, of course!

The sentiment is from the Bee My Valentine stamp set again (as is the heart on the envelope in the picture above).

Love how this turned out, and can’t wait to give it to him on Wednesday!

Happy Stampin! Kelly

Adoring Hearts – Negative!

Today’s Valentine cards are using a negative piece from the Adoring Hearts Bundle from a previous post.

When making projects for the previous post, I cut a bunch of panels using the hybrid 3D embossing folder where the folder embosses while the die nests in the folder and cuts at the same time. When you do that, you have a 6 x 6 piece of cardstock that is the negative.

I had a bunch of hearts left over, and a panel of Flirty Flamingo (above) and Real Red. I cut the Real Red to make these two cards:

The bundle comes with a sweet little banner which I used for the sentiment. Coupled with the Most Adorned designer series paper (free with a $50 order!) and you have two quick and easy cards!

Here’s a look at the 2nd one:

I love the tiny embossed hearts on that background — how could I throw it away!?

Happy Stamping this weekend! Kelly

Love You More Stencils

A bunch of papercrafters (not just Stampin’ Up! demonstrators) are gathering together to spread the love on the social media every Friday today through the end of February. If you want to follow along, be sure to follow me on Instagram! This week (week 4)’s theme is Stencils.

I used two stencils.

The first is a small dot pattern from a retired Decorative Mask pack called Adorning Designs. I ink-blended that with Berry Burst ink on my Bubble Bath layer. Then in Bubble Bath ink, I stenciled the hearts using a panel from the Saying Thanks Card kit. I didn’t have a heart stencil, so made one! Here is that card kit, and you can see which panel I used:

I removed all the little die cut hearts and used the negative as a stencil with my ink blending brushes. Here is my card:

Then, I added a greeting, some hearts (from the Radiating Stitches Dies), and some gingham ribbon and embellishments.

What stencils do you have? Do you have ink blending brushes? Stampin’ Up’s are amazing if you don’t, you can Shop the Supplies below or visit my Online Store.

I love how this turned out. Every time I use stencils and do ink-blending, I fall in love with the technique all over again. I really need to do more of it! My go-to for adding backgrounds or textures is designer series paper (patterned paper) and while that does a beautiful job, the last 3 posts I haven’t used any patterned paper – (I know, what!?) – and I’m liking the switch…but don’t worry, more DSP is coming soon.

Happy stamping! Kelly

Share a Milkshake Valentine Techniques

Valentine’s Day is only a week away in the U.S. and since Valentine’s Day is a big occasion for papercrafting…after all, the doily paper heart is a staple for homemade cards to give to your loved one. To that end, I’ll be posting each day for the next week to help blanket the interwebs with paper love.

Today’s project features the Share a Milkshake Bundle, and two stamping techniques that are perfect for Valentine’s — the kissing technique and adding embellishments with gilded leafing. Let’s take a look:

The three milkshake glasses are decorated with patterns that came from stamps from the stamp set. Ink up the glass in a light color and while still wet, apply whatever stamp you want to use to make a pattern (from left to right: greeting, hearts trio, straw stripes) using a darker ink color. Stamp that stamp directly onto the glass stamp, give it a huff, and then stamp on your paper. So much fun! I know the greeting is backwards, but it’s still fun!

Then for the 2nd technique, I cut hearts out of foam adhesive sheet. Adhere to the card, peel off the top peeling, and then add your gilded leafing — so much fun! Using the waffle dies of this bundle, I also added gilded leafing to that as well.

Love it — and also like the nontraditional purple.

Happy Love Week! Kelly

Happy Groundhog Day with Fluffiest Friends!

Happy Friday – and happy Groundhog Day! Carrying on with the weekly Valentine’s Instagram Hop I’m in, and today’s theme is “Shaped Cards.”

As a reminder, a bunch of papercrafters (not just Stampin’ Up! demonstrators) are gathering together to spread the love on the social media every Friday today through the end of February. If you want to follow along, be sure to follow me on Instagram!

Today’s project is inspired by Punxsutawney Phil – since today is Groundhog Day. I’m a native Pennsylvanian…so yes, it’s a holiday…just ask my mother, it’s her favorite day! She sent me this:

Anyway, what better way to celebrate and spread the love but to use the Fluffiest Friends Bundle by Stampin’ Up! My shaped card is Phil’s his burrow on Gobbler’s Knob where he’s emerging to predict the start of spring. Good news — early this morning, Phil did NOT see his shadow…so that means we’re in for an early spring! In case you were curious, this marks the first time since 2002 that Phil predicted an early spring, and the 21st time since records were kept.

Okay, enough about Phil – let’s take a look at my card!

This image is a beaver, but I simply cut his tail off to make a groundhog. Isn’t he cute!? For the Shaped card base, I cut my card base using the arched die from Fluffiest Friends dies (the Early Espresso piece) as a guide.

Here’s the shape:

Phil is colored with blends and his burrow is decorated with the greenery from that die set, making a cute Groundhog Day Shaped Card!

Here’s the Inside:

The sentiment comes from Enduring Beauty stamp set, and the hearts from Share a Milkshake stamp set.

Happy Groundhog Day! Kelly

Enduring Beauty Color Challenge

Tonight I am taking part in a color challenge over on Instagram, so wanted to explain more here, and to see what others have done with this Color Challenge, start on my Instagram page and go from there!

Here is the color challenge:

Interesting, huh? I decided to use the new Enduring Beauty bundle and after making two flower panels, I decided to use both.

So, let’s talk about this bundle. I wasn’t very interested in this the first few passes through the 2024 Jan-Apr Mini Catalog review. But then, as is pretty standard, I started to see folks using this on social media and decided to order it when I had some hostess reward dollars to spend. Boy am I grateful to have this bundle in my craftroom. It is GORGEOUS. The Enduring Beauty bundle is $50.75 and include a photopolymer stamp set, coordinating dies, and a set of layering stencils that you can use to color in the flowers.

I think I passed over this the first few go-arounds because I thought “$50!” and the stamp set is really a greeting set (and I don’t even really care for all of the sayings) with a big image. I liked the dies, but have other dies like them, so again, didn’t really think much about it. Since I was ordering it for free, I didn’t mind so much – the image is very very pretty – and I wanted to try out these layering stencils. WOWzers…I am so so glad I did.

Layering stencils are a new tool in paper crafting and there is another company that has been offering them for a few years, and does them REALLY well. I’m excited to see Stampin’ Up! jump on this bandwagon. Paired with Blending Brushes, it is fun to create depths of color, layer by layer. And, this flower bouquet is stunning once you ink blend it.

Here’s how it works: You stamp the image. Lay layer #1 on top and ink blend (I used Lemon Lolly). Then you lay Layer #2 on top and ink blend with a darker color (I used Daffodil Delight):

Do you see the beautiful dimension the layering creates! Let’s look at the panels side-by-side. You can see the one of the left has that extra Layer #2 and the additional depth that adds, compared to the layers on the right.

Then you add the green, and it makes for such a beautiful project! Here is a closer look at the full panel complete:

Here’s the second version of my color challenge project (did add a little Granny Apple Green, but that’s okay!)

For this card, I used the Fractured Card Technique (or “faux shutter card”). Paired with the new 3D Layered Florals Embossing Folder…no sentiment needed.

I hope you like these projects, and join in the fun with this color challenge!

Happy Stamping! Kelly

Tools of the Trade

It is the last Sunday of January (where did the month go?!) so I’m hopping with my fellow Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator friends from North Carolina and today we are focusing on the tools of our trade. Today’s project used many of Stampin’ Up!’s wonderful tools and also features the new Cutest Cows bundle. As always with a blog hop, you’ll want to “hop along” to the next Demonstrator to see her amazing projects. Click the Next Button below to see a project from the talented Frances Wagner  or follow along using the Roll Call below.

Here’s my project:

The Cutest Cows bundle is the cutest! I love it and can’t wait to play with it more. For this project, I used a yellow plaid from the Bee Mine DSP, added a red postage layer made with the Perennial Postage dies, and the made a little scene with the Cutest Cows stamps and cow builder punch. The sentiment is made using the new Mini Alphabet dies.

This is where the tools come in! To stamp the grass, I masked the sunflowers and the watering can using the Masking Paper:

Then, when I die cut the letters, I used the adhesive sheet behind the black to make the letters like a sticker. I love adhesive sheets because they make it SO much easier to adhere to your card — especially when working with such small pieces!

A snap! I popped up the cow and the white layer using one of my favorite Stampin’ Up! tools: dimensionals. Let’s take a closer look:

And here is the inside:

Now, let’s Hop!

As always, I’m grateful to you for stopping by. Now, let’s see what the others have done with this challenge! Click the button below to hop over to Frances Wagner’s Blog!

Most Adored

Happy Friday! Carrying on with the Valentine’s Instagram Hop, and today’s theme is Patterned Paper — so I chose to feature the new Most Adored 12 x 12 DSP! As a reminder, a bunch of papercrafters (not just Stampin’ Up! demonstrators) are gathering together to spread the love on the social media every Friday today through the end of February. If you want to follow along, be sure to follow me on Instagram!

Let’s take a look at my project:

If you have been following me at all, you know that Stampin’ Up!’s DSP is my 100% favorite of all of their products. (My craft room proves it…I have enough DSP to that I could wallpaper my entire house inside and out!) Their DSP or patterned paper is the highest quality and has the most beautiful, coordinating, patterns. I just love it. I chose the Most Adored 12 x 12 Specialty paper that is being offered right now as a a Sale-A-Bration option which means it is FREE with any $50 purchase. WHAT? Yes…free. Here is the paper:

It coordinates beautifully with the Adoring Hearts bundle. This bundle is in the new Mini catalog and includes a beautiful stamp set, and a hybrid embossing folder which is a 3D embossing folder and a set of dies that cuts out the embossed images.

This bundle is $53 — which means, you order that and qualify for the free Most Adored DSP through Sale-A-Bration rewards! [Stop reading, and head to my store right now to start your order!]

How this works:

You place the heart die plate inside the folder, then add your cardstock, then run that through your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine. It embosses the cardstock and die cuts at the same time!

Let’s take a closer look at my project and you can see these hearts in action.

Sometimes I struggle deciding which pattern to show and which then needs to be glued down. So when I find a fun fold that showcases both sides of the DSP, the project is even better! Check out this card:

How It’s Made:

It’s so simple! Cut a 4″ x 12″ piece of your patterned paper and score at 5 1/2″ and 11″. NOTE: if your pattern is directional, make sure you cut appropriately and score appropriately. For my directional paper, I made sure my polka dot hearts were going the right way when I cut, then when I scored, I scored at 5 1/2″ first with the hearts upside down, then at 11″ (again, hearts upside down) so that when I made it right side up, the 1″ flap that you fold back to peak through on the front of the card had hearts going the right direction. Clear as mud? Just give it a try and you’ll see.

Then I added two more pieces of DSP: one underneath the fold-back flap on the front (this measures 1 1/4″ x 4″) and one for the inside that measures 5 1/4″ x 3 1/4″. PS don’t you LOVE this plaid!?

Then decorate as you wish!

Go to your stash, pull out some patterned paper, and start creating! Kelly

SWF – Bee My Valentine

Today I am back with my Stamping With Friends group and our blog hop theme today is showcasing the new Jan-April Mini catalog. It’s Valentine week…so I’m keeping in that theme and from my blog yesterday and showcasing the Bee Mine Suite of Products and the Bee My Valentine Bundle. As always with a blog hop, you’ll want to “hop along” to the next stamper to see her amazing projects. Click the Next button in the Roll Call below.

My Projects:

I made a gift box and a card, let’s take a look:

Let’s take a closer look at the card:

Here is the inside:

I chose a card layout that really showcases the Bee Mine designer series paper. This paper is wonderful!

These papers are so sweet. I cut love the yellow plaid, and used that for the tag (cut with the Tailor Made Tags dies). I also love the little bees and cut one out of the patterned paper here instead of using the bee stamps.

So cute!

Now let’s look at the little treat box:

Again, I let the DSP do the work. I used the bee body of the punch to make a word bubble, and stamped and cut a Pool Party heart (punched out using the punch). These Square Pillow boxes are part of the Suite bundle as is the Sweet Sorbet 1/4″ Bordered Ribbon. Love!! So cute, and so easy.

Blog Hop time!

Looking forward to seeing what products my friends are working with in their projects in today’s Blog Hop Challenge. Be sure to click “Next Blog” below in the Roll Call!

Happy Stamping! Kelly
